For an extra sophisticated spin on your ice cream or sorbet, why not pair your serve with a glass of wine?
We might be well-known for our wide variety of ice cream and sorbets – made with natural, locally sourced and seasonal ingredients – but did you know we also serve a selection of wines to sip alongside your flavour of choice?
And to make the decision process even easier for you, we have created a pairing menu – we think it’s the perfect grown-up addition to our drinks offering. Order a glass alongside your tub or cone at either our original Tufnell Park parlour or at the newly opened Kings Cross venue, which is situation just off Granary Square – the outside terrace here is a great spot to sip a glass of sparkling in the summer sun (when it decides to shine, that is).
Fancy something bubbly? Our Glera Extra Dry DOC Spumante comes from vines situated in heart of Italy’s Prosecco country and, thanks to hints of ripe almonds and fresh peaches, it’s the ideal partner to our fruity and refreshing Blackcurrant, Strawberry, and Mint & Cucumber sorbets.
If you are in the mood for something bright and fresh, the Saint Laurand Collection Privee VdP Blanc displays peach, lemon and grapefruit notes on the nose with a delicate citrus palate. Enjoy a glass alongside Lemon & Cardamom and Basil & Lemon ice creams, or the zingy Lemon sorbet.
Nothing says summer like a glass of rose, and the Saint Laurand Collection Privee VdP Rose is packed with aromas of wild raspberry and crushed rose petals, while the deliciously peachy, boiled sweet palate and light fresh finish compliment refreshing offerings including Coconut & White Chocolate and Raspberry Ripple ice creams, or Watermelon & Mint granita.
For something bigger and bolder, try chocolate, coffee or tea flavoured ice creams – like Masala Chai, Salted Caramel & Almond Nut Brittle, Earl Grey, Stracciatella or Coffee Mocha Ripple – while enjoying Saint Laurand Collection Privee VdP Rouge. This 50% syrah and 50% carignan blend is made in Carcassonne with deliciously ripe grapes, resulting in red cherry and blackberry aromas, and a peppery finish.
Or for a cold drop of red wine, it has to be the cherry aromas of Gamay de Touraine AOC 2014 – served chilled we love enjoying it with Cherry Chocolate, Madagascan Vanilla, Apricot & Sour Cream, intensely peppery Horseradish, and Damson & Sour Cream ice creams.
And from France back to Italy, the wine tasting journey might have started with Prosecco, but it ends with Limoncello from Piemonte. This lemon liqueur is traditionally served chilled and is bursting with freshly squeezed lemon, fennel and fresh almond aromas. Match it with Italian Lemon sorbet for a citrus-packed partnership.
